EDGE DINGS

Edge dings might not seem like a big deal at first, but they usually create separation between the board’s layers. That gap lets moisture in, which can freeze, spread the damage, or even compromise the core. Over time, rust can also form and make repairs tougher. Bottom line... Get edge dings repaired as soon as they happen—it’ll save your board (and your wallet) in the long run.

This one had two spots of edge compression that pinched the base material. Both spots were bent back into shape and the base material was in good enough shape to flatten and relaminate back down without any patching.

Edge Correction: $10
Relamination: $5
Full Tune: $80

TOTAL COST: $95

Sometimes you get lucky and the base comes out so smooth after relamination that it barely needs a grind, such as this one. This ding was corrected and the base and edge layers were epoxied back down clean enough to only need a basic tune.

Edge Correction: $10
Relamination: $5
Basic Tune: $65

TOTAL COST: $80

Here was a board that had already been repaired a dozen times and came back in with yet another damage. Instead of re-straightening an already thin edge and grinding it a bunch more, the edge was just cut out and an epoxy fill was added. This kept the repair cheap, the turnaround quick, and preserved the most amount of material.

A quick and dirty, cheaper solution for a non consequential area on the board.

Material Removal: $0
Epoxy Fill: $5
Basic Tune: $65

TOTAL COST: $70

As you can see on this one, the ding is a bit more kinked than the examples above. This makes straightening the edge out a little trickier and heat is needed to keep from breaking the edge when pounding it back out. But other than that, it is pretty straight forward. Everything gets epoxied back together and full tuned.

Edge Correction: $25
Relamination: $5
Full Tune: $80

TOTAL COST: $110

This one wasn't really separated yet, but came in for some preventative repair. These are super easy to fix. First the area is wedged open and the base is peeled back. After that, the edge is bent back into poisition, the layers are laminated and the board is tuned. This one went back into shape very nicely, and only needed a light grind.

Edge Correction: $10
Relamination: $5
Basic Tune: $65

TOTAL COST: $80
